Remote work
The article describes the technical aspects of the safe use of IT equipment and IT services for performing remote work by employees. The content of the published information may be subject to change; therefore, we kindly ask you to review this help article and the links contained within it each time before commencing remote work.

Security areas
While performing remote work, the employee is required to use the software, systems, and IT services provided by the employer. In particular, it is necessary to ensure security in the following areas:
Physical – i.e., the device used for remote work (such as a computer, phone, tablet, or others). The device must be configured in accordance with CUI guidelines and properly secured when being transported to and from the remote work location.
Communication – only trusted computer networks (including Wi-Fi networks) should be used. When working on any network outside of Gdańsk University of Technology, it is recommended to activate the VPN service.
Service-related – only legal software designated by the employer should be used for processing and transmitting official information (including documents).
Physical security
For employees of central units, CUI is responsible for the proper configuration of computer equipment. Employees applying for remote work are asked to contact the CUI Helpdesk in advance.
For faculty employees, the technical services of the faculties are responsible for the proper configuration of computer equipment. The equipment configuration must meet the minimum requirements specified in the CUI guidelines, which are described in this article CUI guidelines for configuring equipment for remote working.
Employees are required to secure their device(s) during transportation, particularly:
It is recommended to carry the equipment in a special case, bag, or backpack.
Leaving equipment in a visible location in a car during a stop in a public place or other means of transport without supervision is prohibited (it is recommended to transport the equipment in the trunk, etc.).
In addition to securing the equipment, it is important for employees to know and follow security guidelines. To this end, prior to performing remote work, the following online training must be completed:

Communication security
The use of open and unencrypted public Wi-Fi networks is prohibited. For home (private) networks, it is recommended to use encryption, at least with the WPA2 protocol, and secure the network with a password.
Access to certain IT systems and services of Gdańsk University of Technology is only possible through a VPN connection. Please refer to the IT services availability catalog and the VPN service usage guide. A request to activate the VPN service can be submitted here.

When using any of these services, employees are required to comply with the applicable IT service usage regulations, which are collected on the IT Service Regulations page (only in polish).
Support for Gdańsk University of Technology employees
The IT Services Center provides technical support to all employees regarding centrally offered IT services and computer equipment for employees of central units.
