Restoring Deleted Items from OneDrive
Please be informed that any changes to data, names, and other modifications made in Microsoft 365 propagate throughout the system within up to 24 hours from the moment they are made.
When deleting a large number of files, OneDrive will notify/ask the user:
When using the OneDrive app on your computer and deleting a large number of files, the app may display a warning or confirmation to ensure you want to proceed with the deletion.
This is a feature designed to prevent the accidental deletion of important data.
If you accidentally deleted files or folders from OneDrive, you can easily restore them using the OneDrive Recycle Bin. Here are the steps to do so:
Open your web browser and go to the OneDrive website at onedrive.live.com
Sign in to your Microsoft account that is linked to your OneDrive Microsoft Outlook English Version
In the left part of the screen, click on Recycle Bin . You will find deleted files there that can be restored. Scroll through the list or use the search function to find the files you need. You can also use the search feature to quickly locate a specific file or folder.
Restore the selected items. Check the checkbox next to the item or items you want to restore.
Click the Restore button, which is located above the list of items. The items will be restored to their original locations.
The second-stage Recycle Bin in OneDrive is a feature that allows you to recover files that have been removed from your main Recycle Bin, meaning files that were permanently deleted but are still stored in the system for a certain period of time. This is an important functionality, especially in cases of accidental data deletion, as it provides an additional layer of recovery before the data is permanently erased.
How to restore files from the second-stage Recycle Bin:
Sign in to OneDrive:
Open your web browser and go to onedrive.live.com.
In the left-hand navigation panel, click on Recycle Bin.
This will open the main Recycle Bin where deleted files and folders are stored temporarily before they are permanently deleted.
Scroll to the bottom of the page.
At the bottom of the page, within the main Recycle Bin, you will find the section.
See the deleted files.
The files that have been moved to the second-stage Recycle Bin will be available in this section. Scroll down to see all the files that have not yet been permanently deleted from the system.
Select the files to restore.
Select the files you want to restore by clicking the checkbox next to each of them. You can select one file or multiple files.
Restore the files.
After selecting the files, click the Restore button at the top of the screen. The files will be restored to their original location in OneDrive.
